deniz borulcesi- looks like seaweed, tastes like seaweed...hey, it is seaweed but surprisingly delicious- always served with a pungent and tangy vinaigrette
hamsi - anchovies - one of the Bosphorus's specialities
barbunya - a zeytinyagli (any vegetable/bean dish that is sauteed and then simmered with olive oil and tomatoes) made of romano beans
tursu - pickled herring, another Bosphorus speciality
cigara borek - these are dangerous...soooo cool, you can't have one. Yufka (thin pastry) cut in to triangles, filled with a cheese mixture and rolled up in to the shape of a cigar. Then deep-fried until they turn a golden brown and the cheese is melted and scrumptious...(can't you tell these are my weakness?)
fried eggplant - thinly sliced eggplant is deep-fried and then topped with tomato and yogurt and garlic- heavenly!
mucver - fried patties that are made of cabak (zucchini, squash) egg & flour
cacik - yogurt watered down with a touch of olive oil and lots of garlic and finely chopped cucumber (salatalik)
coban salata - the ideal salad: cucumbers, vine-ripened tomatoes, parsley, olives, salt & pepper. A drizzle of olive oil, vinegar (or pomegranate sauce - nar)
Of course with all of these scrumptious meze you need to sop up the sauces left on your plate, so, on second thought, pass the bread basket. keep in mind that meze are fundamentally appetizers, so you will need to save room for your entree, coffee and dessert. It is of course acceptable to stick to the meze and order more in lieu of a main course. Keep in mind, most of these dishes (minus my favourite fried ones) are super healthy, so eat up and enjoy.
a large slab of beyaz peynir (white cheese-feta) cut in 1" thick slices, usually served with turkish olives, olive oil and oregano
acili ezme - a dark red, thick pepper puree often with walnuts
haydari- a thick yogurt that cools the palette of the spicy ezme
patlican salatasi - eggplant salad - roasted eggplants chopped and blended with garlic-a puree)
kalamar - fried calamari or grilled calamari served with wedges of lemon
enginar - artichoke hearts - tender and served with vinaigrette, peas and lemons
dolma - stuffed grape leaves - usually stuffed with rice or ground meat (kirema) and a myriad of spices
havuc salatasi- sliced and steamed until tender and served in a thick yogurt with lots of garlic - served cold
pastirma - slices of air dried and cured beef
rocket salad (arugula) - with a simple dressing of olive oil, lemon and a touch of salt
patates kizartma - the Turks make some darn cool fries...generally speaking they are crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside.

There are a couple of main reasons why fishing can be at its best in the fall.
o Fish are generally more sensitive to being caught in the course of this season.
o there's lots of fair weather anglers watching the TV in lieu of fishing. Hence the lakes & rivers are far less crowded than in the course of the hotter months. Personally I prefer it when it is not crowded & the fact is that i have won lots of a trophy fishing in the fall.
1) Use New Fishing Line.
Reading on through this news story will reveal my two top tips for fall fishing. Following any of them will assist you in catching more fish in the course of this excellent season.
This is very often over looked. Fishing line does get frayed & kinked in the course of the frantic spring & summer periods. So before you attempt angling in the fall, re-spool your line, in the long term this will pay dividends.
2) Wear Fingerless Gloves.
As the fall takes hold, the weather can, quickly, become nice & there is nothing more discomforting, while fishing, than having nice hands. Normal gloves aren't really an option as they make fiddling with line, bait & hooks next to impossible. So always have a pair or fingerless gloves in your kit. they will keep your hands warm while still retaining nimble fingers to over out any fiddly operations.
3) Choose A nice Time To Fish.
Most of us know that fishing in the mornings & evenings are generally the best times to go angling, however, taking the weather & lunar cycle into consideration can even be advantageous in the fall. it's been proven that fish feeding habits are affected by the cycles of the moon so fishing with these in mind will increase your catch no doubt about it.
Following these tips could make all the dissimilarity to angling in the fall for you, listen to the voice of one that has been using them for years with great success & there is absolutely no reason why they ought to not get you from in front of that telly & get fishing. The fall is my favourite time of year both in general & for fishing you never know, you might land yourself a trophy fish.

Carp are usually simple to catch. they are the type of fish that scours the bottom of the river for food. they have a mouth like a Hoover sucking up anything that it can eat. Live bait such as worms do not usually work, however they will suck it up occasionally if it's lying on the bottom of the river.
Fishing for carp from the shoreline is an simple & relaxing way to fish. All you require is a fishing rod & reel that can handle fish anywhere from 2 pounds to 25 pounds. Carp do get pretty massive, the buffalo carp species.
Carp fishing from shore can get pretty fascinating when a carp takes your line out for a run after it gets hooked. No require for a bobber fishing for carp. Just cast your line out & let it sit on the bottom of the river of lake you are fishing. i have had some massive carp that would fight for a long time before I could get it in to shore. This is one fish that can be simple to catch & can get really massive. a number of the largest fish i have caught over the years on freshwater rivers & lakes have been carp.
Bait for carp can be as simple as corn on a hook. Bread balls or dough balls works pretty well in case you can keep it on the hook. in case you have some bread, take a piece out of the middle & roll it up in a little ball & attach it to the hook. I've caught many carp this way when I was younger & had no money for bait. Make sure it lies on the bottom of the river or lake so the carp can find it & suck it up as its sweeping the bottom. Keep in mind that if there is top water scum or algae, they will also suck that up. So fishing with a top water item like a fly has also been known to work. Some people fish for carp with a fly rod & reel outfit.
Fishing for carp can sometimes yield many other fish, such as catfish, bullhead, walleye & panfish of all kinds. all of them live in the rivers & lakes of this country. So enjoy carp fishing from shore at your nearest river or lake.

Humminbird Side Imaging Sonar is a great know-how that can help you find more fish faster. Normal "2D" fishfinders look straight down, mostly giving you a view underneath the boat. Side Imaging fishfinders can look to the side of the boat up to 240 feet on each side. That's a total of up to 480 feet around the boat! The sonar's high frequency beam can also map underwater structures such as reefs and wrecks.
So how does this help you find more fish? simple! It lets you see a immense volume of water and also gives an excellent, detailed view of fish attracting structures so that you can see fish that other anglers cannot.
Let's say you fish in freshwater lakes, rivers, ponds, etc. With lots of waterways being over fished nowadays, most anglers will focus on fishing from docks, near the shore or near grass. With Humminbird Side Imaging on your side you'll be able to go out in to the open water and find submerged structures that others can't see easily with their standard "2D" sonar. Your fish finder will help you find timber, stumps, rocks and anything else that attracts fish. You'll even be able to observe transitions from soft (muck) to hard (gravel, sand) bottoms and you know fish loves these transitions. You could identify these transitions with a standard fish finder, but it would need tirelessly circling the water until you are directly above the transition and great skill at reading your fish finder display. With the side imaging sonar you'll not only find these transitions easily, but be able to see them extending for several hundred feet.
in case you fish more in saltwater your side imaging fish finder will give you detailed views of reefs, wrecks and dropoffs, all places fish like to hide. The narrow high frequency beam will let you easily distinguish between the fish, the reef (or other structure) and the bottom. It will also show you baitballs and of work, Fish!
The Humminbird Side Imaging fishfinders do include standard downlooking "2D" sonar if that is more to your speed. basically switch to the "2D" mode and use your fish finder the way you're used to.
